Looking to expand their already successful catering business with a new service, Mostro Pizza founders Jon and Lee contacted me with a clear but challenging overview of their project.

“We’re launching a takeaway pizza franchise with a twist. When customers order on our app, a professionally trained pizza chef will arrive at their home or place of work in a custom built mobile pizza kitchen to freshly prepare, cook and serve the pizza straight from the oven. It’ll be the hottest, freshest takeaway pizza they’ve ever eaten and we want to you create a standout identity for it.”

Something Jon and Lee were passionate about was the experience side of the business. It was pure theatre.

Your very own pizza chef outside your home or place of work, using fresh vibrant ingredients, stretching and flaring fresh dough right before your eyes, and just for you. It wasn’t just a business transaction, it was personal.

It was a strong message and one that steered the development of the visual identity.

Focussing on this message, I worked with a talented illustrator to create a suite of custom illustrations that when integrated with the primary colour palette, created a disruptive but very approachable brand look and feel that was instantly recognisable, an important factor when building a franchise.
